Automations

Up to now she works when you ask. With Automations she works when you did not ask: on a clock, while you sleep. Start small, see it work once, then let it run.

For everyone

Video coming soon

Until then, the steps below cover everything in it.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Find them under Automations

User-created lists your own: what runs, when, and where the result lands. A Task does the work; a Reminder only posts a message. Switch Enabled off to pause one without deleting it. Every task run also lands in the console under Tasks.

  2. 2

    Start from a template

Templates holds ready-made tasks: the Daily Brief, Meeting Prep, Post-meeting Follow-ups, the email sweeps, and for agencies the Monthly Client Report, a draft per client that you check and send. That report never reaches a client on its own.

  3. 3

Try it once, then schedule it

Ask for the job once, right now. Correct it until it is right. Only then say "do this every Monday at 8". Never put something on a clock you have not seen work.

  4. 4

Answer her questions now, not at 8 in the morning

If a run would need something only you can answer, she asks while you set it up, often with answer buttons, and writes your answers into the task.

  5. 5

Keep the how in the skill

A task holds a short brief that names the skill, plus when and where the result lands. Keep the steps in the skill: when the format changes, you fix the skill once and every task that uses it follows.

Four habits that keep the list worth reading

Give it a reason to stay quiet

The best tasks speak only when something changed or crossed a line. A report with nothing new in it is noise.

One task, one job

Three small tasks beat one task that does everything, and they are easier to fix.

A reader for every task

Once a month, ask her to list your scheduled tasks, and pause the ones nobody reads.

Correct the task

When a run is not right, tell her what to change. She updates the task itself, so every later run changes too.

Try these in her DM

Copy one, fill in the brackets, and send it.

Go through #[client channel] and summarise last week: decisions, deliverables, anything due this week.

Good. Do this every Monday at 8, here in my DM.

Every weekday at 8, check [ads connection] and tell me only if something is wrong. Stay quiet otherwise.

List my scheduled tasks.
