Patricia vs OpenAI Dots

A dot works for you. Patricia works for the agency.

OpenAI's dots are strong personal agents: one per person, each with its own computer, and in Slack only its owner can direct it. Patricia is the AI coworker the whole agency shares: she sits in the client channels, runs the recurring client work on a schedule, and asks before any draft reaches a client.

Dots are a serious product, and several rows above are theirs to win. The rest of this page is about whether you need a personal agent or a coworker the agency shares.

New to Patricia?

One AI coworker, inside your Slack.

Patricia does the marketing, sales, ops, and finance work your team never gets to, in the tools you already use. She remembers your company. Every email, post or message she drafts waits for your yes, and by default so does every change and every spend.

Why the owner rule gives it away

One of these works for a person. The other works for your client book.

Your dot brings

A capable personal agent, working toward its owner's goals around the clock.

In Slack, OpenAI's admin guide is plain: only the owner can direct their dot, and messages from other people do not start work. That is the right design for a personal chief of staff, and a different job from carrying a retainer for a team.

Patricia hands you

The recurring client work, finished and waiting for your yes.

One coworker for the whole agency, connected once per client across 1,000+ tools, working in the channel the account already lives in, on a schedule you set.

The detail

The differences that decide it.

A dot answers to its owner. Patricia answers to the agency.

Patricia

Anyone on the account can ask Patricia for the monthly report in the client channel. She pulls the numbers from that client's Google Ads, Meta, GA4 and Search Console, writes the update in your voice, checks her own work, and posts it for your yes. Next month it runs on its own, because it is on the schedule, and the whole team sees it happen.

OpenAI Dots

A dot is a strong personal agent: it has its own cloud computer, works around the clock, and reaches out to its owner with results and decisions. OpenAI starts everyone with one primary dot, and in Slack only the owner can direct it; by default it answers its owner, who can tell it to engage with others in a channel. In a ten-person agency, that is ten separate dots, each working for the person who set it up.

One memory the agency can read.

Patricia

Patricia holds one memory for the agency, fed by client calls, channel conversations and the daily work: who the clients are, how each one likes to be spoken to, what was decided on the last call. You can open the memory page, read what she remembers for your workspace, forget anything she should not keep, and edit the company facts. Her memory is one brain for the agency rather than a separate vault per client, and we say so plainly.

OpenAI Dots

A dot learns from feedback and forms memories from your connected apps, even when you have not asked about them. Those memories belong to its owner, and OpenAI says you currently cannot view, delete or directly modify individual dot memories; deleting the dot is how you clear them, and what it shares into ChatGPT memory is managed in ChatGPT's own memory settings. Disconnecting an app does not delete what the dot already learned from it.

Proactive for one person, or scheduled for every account.

Patricia

The Monday report, the daily spend check, the recap minutes after a client call with action items pushed to Notion or Asana with owners: Patricia runs the work an agency repeats on every account, on a schedule you set once per client. On the ad accounts she reads, flags and proposes, and by default she makes a change only after a person approves it.

OpenAI Dots

Dots are genuinely proactive. Between conversations a dot runs read-only research across its owner's apps, it can wake itself up to continue work, and it runs saved schedules and responds to events where a service supports it. All of it works toward one owner's goals: a schedule an account manager saves lives on their dot, not on the agency.

A catalog entry is not a connector.

Patricia

Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads and Canva are not brokered through a middleman: Patricia holds her own app and her own connector for each. On the ad platforms, that is why she can pull a real report instead of a thin list of fields; she reads, flags and proposes, and by default she makes a change only after a person approves it. Those reports are why the weekly client report comes out finished rather than as a pile of fields you still have to assemble.

OpenAI Dots

OpenAI says dots connect to over 4,000 apps through plugins, and names Gmail, Google Drive and GitHub among them. Ad platforms are reachable that way too; Meta, for one, ships its own ads connector for AI tools. A connector in a catalog is still a different thing from one built to pull a finished client report, every week, on every account.

One price for the agency, not a plan per person.

Patricia

Patricia is $45 a month with every seat included and metered billing that only charges for finished work, so a five-person agency and a twenty-person one pay for what they use, not per head. She is available to agencies in Europe today, hosted in the United States, and your 50,000 free credits come with the onboarding call, where we set the workspace up with you.

OpenAI Dots

Your first dot comes with a ChatGPT Pro plan ($100, $200 or $500 a month, billed monthly only) or a Business Premium seat ($100 a user per month billed annually, or $125 monthly). Free, Go and Plus do not include one. The Pro plans with dots are for users outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, so in Belgium or the Netherlands the route is Business Premium or the Enterprise beta. Conversations with a dot do not count toward ChatGPT usage limits, and OpenAI says you will be able to add more dots in the future, at a price it has not published.

Two model makers, not one.

Patricia

Patricia runs on models from both Anthropic and OpenAI, Claude and GPT, with a strong thinker for the hard work and a lighter model for quick calls. When a better or cheaper model ships, she moves to it, so one vendor's pricing or bad day does not become yours, and your credits go further on the same client work.

OpenAI Dots

Dots run on GPT-6 Astra, which OpenAI calls its most capable and aligned model, and OpenAI's admin guide notes that Enterprise model controls and defaults do not apply to dots. That is a fine bet while OpenAI leads, and one vendor's roadmap, pricing and bad days come with it.

Built for a book of clients, safely.

Patricia

Each client gets their own channel and their own connections, access is scoped per person, and every action is logged, so you can see what happened on which account. Patricia checks her own work before it ships and holds every message or post she drafts for a named yes, and by default anything that spends too.

OpenAI Dots

Dots come with serious controls: custom rules for what a dot does alone, when it asks first, and what it hands to you; a separate Auto-review check before actions such as sending email; and password changes and money transfers always handed back to a person. They are built around one owner and that owner's accounts, and OpenAI does not describe any notion of separate client books.

Its own computer, and 4,000 apps.

Patricia

Patricia works through her connectors and your connected tools rather than a browser she keeps between sessions, and she joins client calls rather than taking phone calls. For the recurring client work an agency bills for, the reports, recaps and follow-ups, the connectors are where the numbers live.

OpenAI Dots

A dot has its own cloud computer and browser that keep their state between sessions, you can open it and take over its mouse and keyboard, and you can call it from the ChatGPT app. Its plugin catalog reaches over 4,000 apps. For open-ended personal work across many tools and websites, that range is a real advantage, and we say so.

Safe to point at real client accounts.

Patricia

An agency holds the logins to a dozen clients' ad and analytics accounts, so where those credentials live matters. Patricia connects through managed, permissioned connections, so there are no raw API keys for your team to store or rotate, access is scoped per person, every action is logged, and she is SOC 2 Type II compliant, GDPR ready and hosted in the United States.

OpenAI Dots

Dots carry OpenAI's business terms: no training on Business or Enterprise content by default, saved passwords used without exposing them to the model, and on Enterprise, audit records through the Compliance API. Pro is a personal plan, where whether your dot's work improves OpenAI's models is a setting you control. Each dot uses its owner's own app connections, set up person by person.

Common questions

Patricia vs OpenAI Dots, answered.

How deep do the ad platform integrations actually go?

Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads and Canva are reached through Patricia's own connector and her own app rather than a broker, so on the ad platforms she pulls a real report instead of a thin list of fields. There she reads, flags and proposes, and by default she makes a change only after a person approves it. Everything else in the catalog is connected the ordinary way, which is honest and still useful.

Is Patricia an OpenAI Dots alternative?

Patricia is the alternative for small marketing agencies. A dot is a personal agent that works for the one person who owns it. Patricia is the coworker the whole agency shares: she runs the work an agency repeats on every account, the weekly report, the spend alert, the call recap, the follow-up, with every draft held for your yes. The 50,000 free credits come with your onboarding call.

Can my whole team share one dot?

Not at launch. OpenAI starts each person with one primary dot, and its admin guide says only the owner can direct a dot in Slack: messages from other people do not start work. OpenAI's launch post envisions teams of dots working together on your behalf, and previews specialist dots that a company sets up with their own identity and access for one defined responsibility, starting as focused enterprise pilots. Patricia is shared from day one: anyone on the team tags her in the client channel, and she works from one memory for the whole agency.

How much does OpenAI Dots cost?

The first dot is included in a ChatGPT Pro plan ($100, $200 or $500 a month) or a Business Premium seat ($100 a user per month billed annually, or $125 monthly). Free, Go and Plus do not include one, and OpenAI has not published a price for extra dots. Each person who wants a dot needs their own eligible plan. Patricia is $45 a month with every seat included.

Are dots available in Belgium and the Netherlands?

Through a ChatGPT Business Premium seat, or the Enterprise beta once an admin turns it on; OpenAI is rolling both out worldwide. The Pro plans that include a dot are for users outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, so a personal Pro plan in Belgium or the Netherlands does not include one at launch. Patricia is available to agencies in Europe today, hosted in the United States, in Slack and in Teams in beta.

Can I see what a dot remembers?

Not its own notes. OpenAI says you currently cannot view, delete or directly modify individual dot memories, and that disconnecting an app does not delete what the dot learned from it; deleting the dot clears its context. What a dot shares into ChatGPT memory stays manageable in ChatGPT's memory settings. In Patricia you open the memory page, read what she remembers for your workspace, forget anything she should not keep, and edit the company facts.

Does Patricia keep my clients apart?

Partly, and we are precise about it. Each client gets its own channel, each connection is either kept personal to the person who made it or shared with the team, and every action is logged. There is no wall between clients: her memory is one brain for the agency, and a connection shared with the team is open to the team. A dot has no client model at all: it is one personal agent working with its owner's own accounts.

Can I use a dot and Patricia together?

Yes, side by side, because they do different jobs: a dot for your own week, Patricia for the client work the whole agency shares. ChatGPT itself can also connect to Patricia as an MCP server, with her server address and a sign-in, so it reads your agency's context while Patricia keeps the permissions, approvals and audit log.

Am I locked into one AI vendor with Patricia?

No, and that is a core difference. Dots run on GPT-6 Astra, and Enterprise model controls do not apply to them, so you are tied to one vendor's roadmap, pricing and outages. Patricia runs on both Claude and GPT models and moves to a better or cheaper one as the field changes, so one vendor's roadmap is not yours.

When should I still choose OpenAI Dots?

When the work is yours alone. A dot is a strong personal chief of staff: it has its own computer and browser, reaches over 4,000 apps through plugins, takes voice calls in ChatGPT, and keeps going while you sleep. If you already pay for ChatGPT Pro or a Business Premium seat, try it for your own week. It is simply not built to carry an agency's client accounts for a team.

Everybody deserves a Patricia.

A dot runs one person's week. Patricia runs next week on every account, for the whole agency. See what she does with your clients in your first week.
