Your team and her channels

So far she works for you. Now she starts working for the team: bring your people in, put her where the work happens, and give her channels of her own.

For the owner or an admin

Video coming soon

Until then, the steps below cover everything in it.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Bring your team in

Settings, Team shows who has met Patricia and who has not yet. Click Invite all members and she says hello to each of them; preview the message first. After that first round the button becomes Nudge members. Someone not in your Slack yet? Invite them by email.

  2. 2

Let new people join on their own

On the Team page's Settings tab, check that Who joins from Slack is set to Full team, the default. Everyone in your Slack then becomes a Patricia member when the roster syncs, except guests.

  3. 3

    Know the roles

Owner, Admin, Member and Viewer. Members hand her work and connect their own tools. Admins also connect tools for the whole team and change the workspace settings.

  4. 4

    Approvals are personal

Every teammate sets their own in Settings, My approvals, and only they can change their own Critical choice. Send guide 06 to everyone you invite.

  5. 5

Put her where the work happens

She works in the channels she is in. Mention her in a channel and Slack offers to invite her; private channels work the same way. She answers when someone asks her, by name or with a mention, and she does not jump into a conversation on her own.

  6. 6

    Make channels yourself

Make the channel yourself, then invite her. She can only create public channels (standard channels on Teams), and by default each one needs your approval.

  7. 7

Give her channels of her own

One for briefs and reports, one for alerts, so her output does not flood the team's channels. Move scheduled work there with one message, and anyone who wants it joins the channel.

Avoid one big Patricia channel

A single channel where everyone asks everything works for a week, then it is noise. Team work goes in the channel it belongs to. Your own work, like your inbox or your drafts, stays in her DM.

On Microsoft Teams

Teams support is in beta. A Microsoft 365 admin uploads the Patricia app once. Then add her to each team from Manage team, Apps.

Try this in her DM

Copy one, fill in the brackets, and send it.

Move [task name] to #[her channel].
